UFC Aiming To Re-Book Max Holloway, Alexander Volkanovski Trilogy For July 2nd

The trilogy fight between Max Holloway and UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski is a potential headliner for UFC’s July 2nd pay-per-view event.

The fight is being targeted for UFC 276 but has yet to be finalized, per an initial report from Ariel Helwani and recent details from Farah Hannoun and Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie.

If the fight can be finalized, it will headline a card from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The trilogy fight between Holloway and Volkanovski was first attempted for a card earlier this year. However, Holloway had to withdraw from that fight due to injury.

Volkanovski ended up still competing earlier this year, stopping The Korean Zombie in the fourth round of a dominant performance.

Volkanovski has emerged victorious in both of his previous fights against Holloway. They first met in late 2019, when Volkanovski earned a unanimous decision win after five rounds.

They then fought in a rematch just seven months later. While Volkanovski won again, this time he took a split decision.

Holloway worked his way back to another title fight in 2021 with two solid performances in the main event of cards. After starting his year with a victory over Calvin Kattar, he came back in the fall of 2021 to defeat Yair Rodriguez.

The main event for UFC 276 has not been set yet. But, here’s how the card would look with it in place:

Bout 7: Alexander Volkanovski (24-1) vs. Max Holloway (23-6) (UFC Featherweight Championship)

Bout 6: Miesha Tate (19-8) vs. Lauren Murphy (15-5) (Flyweight)
