Bryan Battle will have a change of weight class in his next appearance.
The winner on Season 29 of “The Ultimate Fighter” is expected to go down to welterweight and face Takashi Sato at UFC’s August 6th show, per a report from Mike Heck of MMA Fighting.
The location for the fight isn’t known at the moment.
Battle joined the promotion when he beat Gilbert Urbina in the grand final of “The Ultimate Fighter.” He returned earlier this year, handing Tresean Gore his first pro loss with a unanimous decision result.
The upcoming fight is the first time that Battle has ever competed at welterweight, per database Tapology. He has spent his entire pro career at middleweight and has even appeared as high as light heavyweight during his amateur run.
Sato will be fighting for his first win in more than two years. He has only fought twice since November 2020 and has come up with a loss in both outings.
Sato stepped in on short notice earlier this year to face Gunnar Nelson. He went three rounds against the returning vet, losing a unanimous decision in the end.
