Merab Dvalishvili Targeted To Put Win Streak On The Line Against Jose Aldo At UFC 278

Merab Dvalishvili could get a big test in his climb up the bantamweight ranks, as he has been targeted to face Jose Aldo at UFC’s August 20th pay-per-view event.

The fight is expected to join UFC 278, per a report from Damon Martin of MMA Fighting. While the bout hasn’t been finalized, verbal agreements are reportedly in place.

UFC 278 is expected to take place at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

Dvalishvili has put together a stunning seven straight wins since 2018. He picked up a victory against veteran Marlon Moraes in his last outing, stopping the now-retired vet in the second round of a bout in 2021.

Dvalishvili will now get to face a former champion for the first time during his bantamweight campaign.

Aldo enters this card with a solid amount of momentum. He is currently on a three-fight tear that first started in 2020. He put an end to Rob Font’s momentum late last year, going five rounds against the contender for a unanimous decision victory.

Aldo can stop another strong run at 135-pounds in this upcoming fight.

UFC 278 is currently set to be headlined by UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards.

Bout 3: Kamaru Usman (20-1) vs. Leon Edwards (19-3) (UFC Welterweight Championship)

Bout 2: Tyson Pedro (8-3) vs. Harry Hunsucker (7-5) (Light Heavyweight)

Bout 1: Jose Aldo (31-7) vs. Merab Dvalishvili (14-4) (Bantamweight)
