A pair of fights have recently been removed from UFC’s next event. The bouts were originally set to take place on July 9th at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Lingo Out of Fight Against Onama
David Onama has lost his opponent for this weekend.
Austin Lingo has withdrawn from his fight against Onama, leaving the featherweight off the card for the time being. News of the fight was first reported by Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
UFC is reportedly searching for a short-notice opponent that can face Onama.
Lingo was looking to make his first appearance of the year. He had a successful 2021, defeating Jacob Kilburn and Luis Saldana on scorecards.
Onama is coming off his first UFC win, which was a first-round finish against Gabriel Benitez in February.
Pickett vs. Tiuliulin Off
A fight between Jamie Pickett and Denis Tiuliulin has also been taken off the card. The middleweight bout is now being targeted for UFC’s September 10th card, per Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
Tiuliulin was fighting to come back from an unsuccessful UFC debut. He was submitted in his first fight for the promotion, getting stopped by Aliaskhab Khizriev in March.
Pickett is also coming off a loss, as he suffered a darce choke loss to Kyle Daukaus earlier this year.
UFC’s July 9th show has a total of 10 fights set for it currently. A fight between lightweights Rafael Fiziev and Rafael dos Anjos is currently set to headline the event.
