Cub Swanson Set For Bantamweight Move Against Jonathan Martinez At October 15th UFC Card

UFC veteran Cub Swanson is expected to make his return to bantamweight later this year. Swanson will reportedly appear in the 135-pound weight class at the promotion’s October 15th card, facing Jonathan Martinez.

News of the matchup was first reported by mma.ideas on Instagram. It’s joining a card that doesn’t have a set location at the moment. The fight is the first to be reported for UFC’s October 15th event.

Swanson has not previously fought at bantamweight during his lengthy UFC career. His two previous bantamweight fights date back to 2005 when he competed in the regional promotion King of the Cage.

Swanson has spent his entire 21-fight UFC run at featherweight. He scored a quick finish win in his last appearance, stopping Darren Elkins with strikes in December 2021.

Swanson has a tough test in his UFC debut at featherweight, facing a talent on the rise.

Martinez is currently on a three-fight winning streak, the longest run of wins that he has attained since joining the UFC roster in 2018.

He scored a pair of those wins earlier this year, defeating Alejandro Perez and Vince Morales on scorecards each.
