Fighting for his first victory since 2019, light heavyweight talent Dominick Reyes has been booked to face Ryan Spann for UFC 281.
The bout is expected to take place on November 12th at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, USA, per a report from Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie.
Reyes has struggled in recent years against some of the top names at 205 pounds. In fact, all three of his recent losses have come against people who were UFC champions at some point over the past five years.
Reyes’ last defeat came in May 2021, when he was stopped in the second round of a main event fight against Jiri Prochazka. Previous defeats in his ongoing skid came against Jan Blachowicz and Jon Jones.
A loss for Reyes would not only mark his fourth consecutive loss but see him suffer a defeat against a significantly lower-ranked fighter.
Spann has flipped between wins and losses in recent years. He is riding the momentum of a recent victory in this instance, earning a first-round submission against Ion Cutelaba in May.
With UFC 281 still three months away, much about the event is still unknown. However, it is currently public knowledge that UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya will face Alex Pereira.
Here’s an updated look at the card:
Bout 3: Israel Adesanya (23-1) vs. Alex Pereira (6-1) (UFC Middleweight Championship)
Bout 2: Erin Blanchfield (9-1) vs. Molly McCann (13-4) (Flyweight)
Bout 1: Dominick Reyes (12-3) vs. Ryan Spann (20-7) (Light Heavyweight)
