A pair of matchups have joined UFC’s October 1st card. The bouts are now part of a show which doesn’t have a set location at the moment.
Struggling Heavyweights Matched Up
Both competing with the goal of ending losing streaks, heavyweights Jairzinho Rozenstruick and Chris Daukaus are expected to meet later this year. News of the matchup was first confirmed by Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
One year ago, Daukaus was one of the fastest-rising names at heavyweight. He had four wins in the UFC, with all of those fights coming via finish. But he has not put up the same results against higher-level names in the division as of late, suffering finish losses against Derrick Lewis and Curtis Blaydes. He’ll have the chance of turning things around when he appears later this year.
Rozenstruick is also heading into October on a two-fight skid. His last fight was a quick loss in the main event of a card, getting stopped in the first round by Alexander Volkov.
Silva Steps In Against Ronson
Jesse Ronson has been given a new opponent for UFC’s October 1st show. While the Canadian vet was first scheduled to face Vinc Pichel, plans changed due to an injury.
Ronson is now expected to face the returning Joaquim Silva, per a report by Mike Heck of MMA Fighting.
Silva is a UFC vet of seven appearances. He first joined the promotion in 2015 after competing in “The Ultimate Fighter Brazil.” He enters this booking with the goal of snapping a two-fight skid, as he has lost to Ricky Glenn and Nasrat Haqparast in recent years.
Ronson is still fighting for his first UFC win. Through two runs in the promotion, Ronson has taken four losses and one no contest (which was a win overturned due to a drug test).
Ronson made his return from suspension in April, losing via submission against Rafa Garcia.
