Strawweight Loma Lookboonmee has been given a new opponent for her first fight of 2022. While previously booked to face Diana Belbita, Lookboonmee is now expected to face Denise Gomes at UFC’s September 17th “Fight Night” card.
News of the opponent change was revealed during UFC’s “Dana White’s Contender Series” broadcast on Tuesday. The bout is scheduled to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Gomes will be making her first UFC appearance in the fight.
The fight is a quick turnaround for her, as she had a successful performance on “Dana White’s Contender Series” just last month against Rayanne Amanda to earn her UFC contract.
Gomes enters the bout on a six-fight winning streak, including a previous appearance under the Invicta FC banner.
Lookboonmee will be fighting to bounce back from a loss she took in November 2021 against Loopy Godinez. Before then, the Thai striker had attained a pair of wins in the UFC cage.
UFC’s September 17th card is now a busy 15 fights in total. The lineup is scheduled to be headlined by bantamweights Cory Sandhagen and Song Yadong.
