Giga Chikadze Out of September 17th Fight Against Sodiq Yusuff

Giga Chikadze’s first appearance since taking his sole UFC loss will have to wait. The featherweight talent has been forced out of his September 17th co-main event booking against Sodiq Yusuff, per a report from Nolan King and Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie.

The fight was scheduled to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The reason for Chikadze’s withdrawal is not known at the moment. Also, there is no knowledge at the moment regarding if Yusuff will get a new opponent for the card.

The booking gave Chikadze a chance to come back from the only UFC defeat of his career. He took that loss in January, dropping a five-round unanimous decision to Calvin Kattar. Before then, he earned seven consecutive wins in the promotion.

Yusuff was aiming to pick up his second win of the year. He last appeared in March, overcoming veteran Alex Caceres in a unanimous decision result.

UFC’s September 17th show still has a total of 14 fights set for it. The lineup is set to be headlined by bantamweights Cory Sandhagen and Song Yadong.
