ONE recently revealed the full 12-bout lineup for their next numbered event, ONE 161. The September 29th show includes a Muay Thai title bout, the start of a kickboxing tournament, and numerous MMA bouts.
The card is scheduled to be headlined by a Muay Thai bout between current 155-pound champion Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy and rising challenger Tawanchai P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym.
The fight is headlining a card that is scheduled to take place behind closed doors at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
Petchmorakot has remained quite active as a champion since first earning his belt in 2020. He defended his title for the fourth time in May earlier this year, scoring a split decision victory over Jimmy Vienot.
Tawanchai is being given a title fight after a strong run in ONE over the past year and a half. The P.K. Saenchai Muay Thai Gym fighter has scored three wins through four appearances in ONE.
Tawanchai has put together an explosive 2022 thus far, earning stoppage wins over both Saemapetch Fairtex and Niclas Larsen.
ONE Launches Four-Man Heavyweight Kickboxing Tournament
A short four-man heavyweight kickboxing tournament will be launched later this month.
The tournament is scheduled to include many of the top names in the division, including current champion Roman Kryklia.
He’ll square off in the co-main event of the card, facing veteran Guto Inocente in a three-round bout.
Kryklia is coming off his second win as champion, picking up a first-round finish win against Murat Aygun in February. That fight was his first appearance in more than a year.
Inocente, a former GLORY Kickboxing and UFC fighter, joined the ONE roster just this year. He won his debut in February, stopping Bruno Susano in the second round of a fight. He then returned in June, making quick work of Rade Opacic in a first-round finish victory.
On the other side of the bracket, Iraj Azizpour and Bruno Chaves will face off.
Azizpour has won both of his prior fights in ONE, overcoming Anderson Braddock Silva and Ismael Londt.
Chaves, a former GLORY Kickboxing fighter, will be making his first appearance in ONE.
Three MMA Bouts Set For Main Card
A total of three MMA fights are set to happen on the main card for ONE 161.
Veteran Zhang Lipeng will search for his third victory in ONE, meeting Saygid Izagakhmaev in a welterweight fight. Zhang’s last fight saw him stop Ruslan Emilbek in just 32 seconds.
115-pound talents Ritu Phogat and Tiffany Teo will also meet on the ONE 161 main card. Phogat will be appearing for the first time since she lost to Stamp Fairtex in the final of the ONE 115-pound Grand Prix last year.
The main card is scheduled to begin with a bantamweight fight between Yuya Wakamatsu and Wang Shuo. Both will be aiming to come back from recent losses.
