Just months after announcing his retirement from MMA, Marlon Moraes has returned to the sport.
The former UFC fighter will come back to MMA under a new banner, announcing this week that he has signed a contract with the PFL.
Moraes, 34, is expected to join the PFL roster and compete in their 2023 season up at featherweight.
The signing is a return for Moraes in a sense. He previously fought for the promotion when it was known as the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) from 2012 to 2016. After claiming a bantamweight belt in that promotion, Moraes joined the UFC roster in 2017.
Moraes had an 11-fight UFC run that resulted in five wins and six losses.
He had a brief retirement from MMA after suffering four consecutive finish losses in recent years. His last fight was in March, when ranked contender Song Yadong stopped him in the first round with punches.
