Aspen Ladd has been cut from the UFC roster shortly after her latest struggle to make weight for a fight.
News of Ladd’s departure was confirmed by Damon Martin of MMA Fighting on Tuesday.
Ladd, 27, was removed from a UFC bout on September 17th after missing the non-championship bantamweight limit by two pounds.
The fight was just one of the many times that Ladd has struggled or failed to go under the weight limit for a fight.
She fell ill in 2021 following a failed weight cut, causing her fight against Macy Chiasson to not take place. Two years before then, many were concerned when Ladd appeared to be visibly shaking will on a scale for a fight against Germaine de Randamie. She later lost that bout in just 16 seconds.
UFC President Dana White confirmed Ladd’s UFC release on Tuesday.
“It’s never fun when you have somebody that’s actually talented [that you have to cut]. But part of the job is making weight,” said White during the post-fight press conference for UFC’s ‘Contender Series’ program. “She has not made weight so many times, it had to happen. Not something you want to do, but something that had to be done.”
Ladd’s total UFC record consisted of four wins and three losses from 2017 to 2022. Her last fight was in April when she dropped a decision to Raquel Pennington.
