Saturday’s UFC card has received a last-minute bout at featherweight.
Stepping in on short notice, Lucas Alexander will meet Joanderson Brito at the promotion’s October 15th card at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, as first reported by Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
Alexander, a UFC newcomer, is stepping in to replace Brito’s previous opponent Melsik Baghdasaryan. The change came due to Baghdasaryan suffering a hand injury, as reported last month by MMA Fighting.
Alexander is joining the roster following a strong run on the regional scene, attaining five consecutive wins over the past four years. His last win came against UFC alum Jacob Kilburn, who had to exit a bout in the second round due to an injury.
Brito is making his third appearance as a UFC rookie. The “Contender Series” alum lost his debut early this year, dropping a decision to Bill Algeo.
Brito bounced back in April with a statement victory, stopping Andre Fili in just 41 seconds with strikes.
Flyweights Alexa Grasso and Viviane Araujo will meet in the main event of this weekend’s UFC card. Here’s an updated look at the lineup:
Correction: A previous issue of the story incorrectly stated that Lucas Almeida was fighting, not Lucas Alexander. This mistake has been changed.
