Jessica Andrade will return to flyweight early next year in a matchup against Lauren Murphy. The fight is joining UFC’s January 21st pay-per-view event, per a report from Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting.
Andrade will have a home-country advantage against Murphy, as the fight is part of UFC 283 from the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
Andrade is entering the bout on a two-fight winning streak. Her last appearance saw her compete down at strawweight in the main event of a UFC card this year.
She prevailed in that fight, submitting Amanda Lemos in the first round with an arm triangle choke.
Andrade’s last fight at flyweight came in September 2021, when she stopped Cynthia Calvillo in the first round with strikes.
Andrade was scheduled to return earlier this year against Manon Fiorot, although an injury forced her from appearing in that bout.
Murphy will be appearing for the second time since she lost a title fight to Valentine Shevchenko last year.
Murphy spoiled the flyweight debut of Miesha Tate earlier this year, earning a unanimous decision against her in July.
