UFC 280 took another hit just a day before the event is scheduled to kick off.
A featherweight fight between Zubaira Tukhugov and Lucas Almeida has been removed from UFC’s October 22nd pay-per-view due to “weight management issues,” per an announcement made by the promotion.
The fight was scheduled to take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
Almeida was aiming to score his second UFC win. He scored his promotional debut win in June, picking up a third-round finish over Mike Trizano due to strikes.
The fight was scheduled to be Tukhugov’s first fight in nearly a year. His last appearance was at UFC 267 last year when he beat Ricardo Ramos on scorecards.
UFC 280 is now scheduled to be 12 fights in total. A fight between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev for the vacant UFC Lightweight Championship is currently set to headline the card.
