Former UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker will get to fight in front of his home country of Australia next year.
Whittaker has been booked to face Paulo Costa at UFC’s February 11th pay-per-view event from the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. The bout, which was announced by the promotion Friday, is the first to be booked for UFC 284 thus far.
Whittaker will be searching for his second consecutive win at middleweight. His last fight was in September when he went the distance against Marvin Vettori for a decision victory.
The former 185-pound titleholder failed to regain a belt in his previous fight, losing a decision to Israel Adesanya in February.
The upcoming fight will be Whittaker’s first time competing in Australia since October 2019.
Paulo snapped a two-fight losing streak in his last appearance, defeating retiring veteran Luke Rockhold via unanimous decision at UFC 278.
