Bout 9: Neil Magny (22-7) vs. Anthony Rocco Martin (17-5) (Welterweight)
Martin put Magny in a clinch against the cage in the first minute of the fight. They separated shortly after. Martin got on the back of Magny while still standing in the second minute. After Martin stayed on Magny for a few minutes, they separated. Magny was scoring with some calf kicks when they’re in stand-up. After some close stand-up in the first minute of the second round, Martin got a double leg takedown. They got back up with three minutes left in the round. As Magny tried for a takedown in the fourth minute, Martin tried for a kimura. With Martin giving up the kimura, Magny stopped trying for the takedown. They clinched up for an extended period in the final minute of the round.
Magny started the final round by walking down Marting, putting him against the fence with his strikes. In his best round of striking, Magny would also try for takedowns, however he was not able to get the fight down. It was clear that Magny had the better cardio, as Martin was taking a backseat in the final round. Coming forward more, Magny kept landing strikes with ease, however Martin never seemed hurt. After being somewhat unresponsive for most of the round, Martin connected with a punch in the final minute. They went into a clinch as the round ended. The judges saw the winner as Magny (30-27, 30-27 & 29-28).
