A week after his fight against Trevin Giles was cancelled, Kevin Holland got a shot against Joaquin Buckley. Here’s how the fight went.
Bout 6: Kevin Holland (17-5) vs. Joaquin Buckley (10-2) (Middleweight)
Holland got a takedown immediately from a clinch. They got up immediately after. Buckley landed a right hand to the head while sweeping Holland early on. A pause came in the first minute after a groin shot hit Holland. Holland scored with elbows to the head while they were in a clinch in the second minute. Holland landed a leg kick in the third minute that wobbled Buckley slightly. The fighters exchanged words on the feet in-between strikes. Another groin strike to Holland caused a break. The groin shot was a punch which was due to how their exchanges were collisions of their bodies. Holland landed a right cross in the fourth round that dropped Buckley. Buckley was quick to recover and get back to the feet. Holland continued to trash talk throughout the round. Holland had a good finish, coming forward with punches that knocked Buckley’s mouthguard out before the fight ended.
Holland continued to out-strike Buckley in the second round. A strike knocked the mouthguard of Buckyley out in the third minute of the round. Buckley put Holland against the cage in the fourth minute, letting go moments after.
Early in the third round, Holland landed a counter right cross that dropped Buckley. The referee ended the bout after seeing Buckley fall.
