Finishing the preliminary card, Laureano Staropoli fought the much more experienced Tim Means. Here’s how the fight panned out.
Bout 7: Tim Means (29-12-1) vs. Laureano Staropoli (9-2) (Catchweight 174.5 lbs)
Means got a takedown early for a body lock. Staropoli got to his feet while Means got on his back. They separated and returned to striking. Means put Staropoli in a clinch against the cage after. Halfway through the round the fighters were tagging each other with punches. A fighter getting in the eye of Staropoli in the final minute caused a brief pause.
Staropoli was hit with a spinning elbow early in the second round, although Means caught him after for a takedown. In the second minute of the round, a head kick from Means dropped Staropoli. After Staropoli stayed on the ground for a minute, he got back up and returned to striking. While Staropoli was throwing his own strikes, Means was pushing forward and connecting more. Means finished the round with a clean elbow to the head of Staropoli.
Means kept Staropoli against the cage in a body lock for a few minutes in the final round. They went back to striking with a minute-and-a-half to go in the round. Means put Staropoli against the cage in a clinch in the final minute of the fight. Means was given the win via unanimous decision(30-27, 29-28 & 29-28).
RESULT: Tim Means def. Laureano Staropoli via Decision, Unanimous
