Saturday’s UFC card has undergone some last-minute changes, losing two bouts and putting together another to replace it. After Calen Born and Takashi Sato were taken out of their fights, their opponents Dwight Grant and Daniel Rodriguez have been matched together for Saturday’s show.
News of the new pairing was announced in a statement on UFC’s official website.
Per the release, Sato was pulled from his fight after not being medically cleared. Born’s withdrawal cited a personal reason.
Despite being impromptu, the booking between Rodriguez and Grant is a fair one, as both fighters have similar records on paper.
Grant will return after more than a year-long layoff, as his last fight was a May split decision victory over Alan Jouban. Rodriguez is his third opponent scheduled against him for August 22nd, as he was also set to face Jared Gooden at one point.
It was also announced by the UFC that the previously announced short notice fight between Timur Valiev and Trevin Jones will happen at a catchweight of 140 pounds.
Down to 10 fights in total here’s how Saturday’s UFC “Fight Night” card looks. Keep an eye out for a preview of the show on Saturday morning.
