Sodiq Yusuff has been taken out of his October 10th bout against Edson Barboza, although a replacement opponent in Makwan Amirkhani has already been targeted. News of the change in the October 10th card was first reported by Raphael Marinho of Combate.
Amirkhani is coming off of the momentum of his last fight, a win last July over Danny Henry at UFC 251. He finished the fight in the first round via anaconda choke, putting him back in the win column after a loss in the Fall to Shane Burgos.
Barboza will aim to break a three-fight streak of losses in the fight. The most recent loss in the trio came last May, dropping a split decision to Dan Ige.
It is not known currently why Yusuff withdrew from his bout.
Yusuff made his UFC debut in late 2018, defeating Suman Mokhtarian in the first round with punches. He has since won three more times, with his last appearance being last January at UFC 246.
If the change in matchup happens, here’s how the October 10th card will look. The card is scheduled to take place from “Fight Island” at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
