Bellator’s October 15th card from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, USA has gotten numerous additions to the card recently. The card now has five fights in total that will take place before the championship main event between Cris Cyborg and Arlene Blencowe
Here’s the new fights.
Patricky Pitbull Returns To Bellator Against Jaleel Willis
Patricky Pitbull will make his return to Bellator on October 15th when he faces Jaleel Willis in the co-main event of Bellator 249. The matchup was first reported by Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
Pitbull returns to the promotion following a three-fight stint as part of RIZIN’s Lightweight Grand Prix. The tournament finished in December, where Pitbull lost in the grand final to Tofiq Musayev.
Prior to COVID-19 cancelling events, Pitbull was scheduled to fight Peter Queally in October.
The fight will be Willis’ debut in Bellator. His last fight was in August, where he defeated Vinicius de Jesus to become the LFA Welterweight Champion.
Ricky Bandejas vs. Leandro Higo
Bandejas will enter the Bellator cage for the seventh time, and if successful, he could leave the cage with his fourth promotional victory.
Higo returns for his first fight in over a year. His last bout was in September of 2019, catching Shawn Bunch in the second round with a guillotine choke.
Saad Awad vs. Mandel Nallo
Bellator veteran Saad Awad will fight Mandel Nallo on the main card of the show as well. Awad will attempt to break his four-fight losing streak when he faces Nallo, who will fight as a pro for the ninth time.
The matchup was reported by Nolan King of MMA Junkie on Wednesday.
Awad took his four losses from 2018 and 2019, dropping bouts to notable Bellator names like Benson Henderson and Paul Daley.
The fight will be Nallo’s return since his first loss as a pro, which came in October of 2019 against Killys Mota. Prior to the loss, Nallo had two stoppage victories in the promotion.
Curtis Millender vs. Joe Schilling
Former UFC fighter Curtis Millender will return on the card when matched up with Joe Schilling. The all-Californian matchup was first reported by Brian Martin of The Orange County Register.
Millender lost his last Bellator bout, not being favoured in a decision against Sabah Homasi last August. The former UFC and LFA fighter made his Bellator debut last January, defeating Moses Murrietta.
He faces Schilling, who has an extensive kickboxing record on top of his 10-fight MMA career.
Schilling last competed in October, being stopped in the third round by Tony Johnson. The fight snapped a five-fight streak of wins that came from MMA and kickboxing (two from MMA). His MMA record is currently a negative one, with four wins and six losses.
Albert Gonzalez vs. Kastriot Xhema
Attempting to come back from his unfortunate Bellator debut in September of 2019, Albert Gonzalez will fight Kastriot Xhema. Steve Marrocco of MMA Fighting was first to break the news.
Gonzalez made his Bellator debut in September of 2019. The fight at Bellator 226 for Gonzalez ended in the second minute after a thrown leg kick broke a leg of his.
He will fight Xhema, who will also try to even his MMA record. Xhema has competed seven times in Bellator.
