A positive COVID-19 test has knocked Alejandro Perez out of his October 10th UFC bout against Thomas Almeida. The cancelled fight was first reported by Carlos Contreras Legaspi of Milenio.
The matchup is no longer part of the “Fight Night” card which is scheduled to happen on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
It is not known currently whether Almeida will get a short-notice opponent for next week’s show.
Perez was looking to come back from a 2019 run that gave him two straight losses. His last bout was over a year ago, losing to Song Yadong at UFC 239.
The fight was scheduled to be Almeida’s return to action following an absence. He last competed in January of 2018, losing to Rob Font.
