UFC on ESPN 16: Jordan Williams vs. Nassourdine Imavov Play-by-Play

A double debut happened on the prelims when Jordan Williams fought Nassourdine Imavov. Their three-round bout went like this.

Bout 4: Jordan Williams (9-3) vs. Nassourdine Imavov (8-2) (Middleweight)

Imavov came in for a punch in the first minute, although both of their heads colliding dropped Imavov. Imavov shot for a takedown to give him time to recover. Williams started to bleed on his hairline shortly after. A shot to the groin of Williams during a collision caused a pause in the fourth minute of the fight. Imavov got hurt by a left cross in the fourth minute of the round. Like what he did when he got rocked earlier in the round, Imavov shot for a takedown to stall. Imavov got on the back of Williams while on the feet in the final minute, although Williams was quick to buck him off. Imavov attempted a guillotine attempt that took Williams to his knees. Williams escaped the choke after going down to his back. Imavov tried the choke again before the round ran out of time.

Imavov landed a clean right hand while on his backfoot to open the second round. Williams put Imavov against the cage in a body lock in the second minute of the round. The fighters traded hard punches after leaving the body lock. Imavov got on the back of Williams after trying for a takedown. Imavov left the clinch and landed a series of hard hooks. Williams shot for a takedown in the fourth minute of the round which made Imavov attempt a guillotine choke. Imavov kept the choke as they went to the ground. Williams was able to spin out of the choke, although Imavov kept top position after. Imavov landed hard hooks from half guard. Imavov kept top position until the round concluded.

Both fighters were very fatigued heading into the third round. The round included both fighters control their opponent with a clinch. Williams seemingly got hurt by a headbutt halfway through the round. Imavov stopped attacking afterwards. The referee did not pause the fight, urging them to continue on. Imavov put Williams against the cage. The referee separated them in under a minute due to inactivity. Imavov landed a series of knees and punches after putting Williams against the cage in the final minute. Imavov won the fight via decision after three rounds (29-27, 29-27 & 29-28).

RESULT: Nassourdine Imavov def. Jordan Williams via Decision, Unanimous
