Flyweights Loma Lookboonmee and Jinh Yu Frey looked to get back in the win column when they faced off on Saturday’s UFC prelims. Here’s how their fight went.
Bout 3: Loma Lookboonmee (4-2) vs. Jinh Yu Frey (9-5) (Strawweight)
Lookboonmee opened the fight with kicks to the leg and body. Frey clinched with Lookboonmee a minute into the fight. Frey landed an elbow as they left the clinch a minute later. Lookboonmee landed a knee to the body and a series of elbows to the head in a clinch. Lookboonmee stopped a takedown attempt in the fourth minute of the round. Lookboonmee had another strong series of knees and elbows in the clinch. A cut opened under the right eye of Frey after the strikes.
Lookboonmee’s striking picked up as they entered another clinch early in the second round. When not in a clinch, the striking battle went at a slow pace.
Frey got a takedown to start the third round. She moved into side control in under a minute. Lookboonmee was able to get to her feet, although Frey got on her back on the feet. Lookboonmee spun out of the position and returned to striking. Lookboonmee landed a head kick in the third minute of the round. Frey shot for a takedown from a clinch in the fourth minute of the round, although Lookboonmee was able to back up to the cage to resist it. Lookboonmee won the fight after three rounds of battle (30-27, 30-27 & 29-28).
RESULT: Loma Lookboonmee def. Jinh Yu Frey via Decision, Unanimous
