Former UFC Champion and veteran of the sport Fabricio Werdum will fight in the heavyweight division of PFL during their 2021 reboot. The promotion announced their signing of Werdum on Monday.
Werdum will compete in PFL’s annual season format of events which is scheduled to kick off in April.
Werdum won his last fight, defeating Alexander Gustafsson via armbar in the first round. The win snapped a two-fight losing streak.
Werdum claimed the UFC Heavyweight Championship in 2014, defeating Mark Hunt at UFC 180 to take the belt. He defended it once, defeating Cain Velasquez in 2015. He dropped the belt in 2016 to Stipe Miocic.
Werdum, a former fighter in Japanese promotion Pride FC, has fought at a high level of MMA since 2005.
