Jared Gooden made his UFC debut against experienced UFC fighter Alan Jouban on the preliminary card of Saturday’s pay-per-view. Here’s how their fight went.
Bout 3: Alan Jouban (16-7) vs. Jared Gooden (17-4) (Welterweight)
Gooden was walking down Jouban early with strikes, although it was Jouban who was connecting with more strikes. Jouban was piecing together strong punches throughout the round. Jouban landed loud, chopping kicks to the body throughout the round.
Like the round before, Gooden was walking Jouban down. Gooden landed a hard two-punch combo in the second minute of the round. A punch from Jouban hurt Gooden in the second minute of the round, causing him to start backing up. Jouban consistently connected with kicks and punches in the third minute that continued to stun Gooden. A combo of hooks from Jouban dropped Gooden to a knee in the fourth minute of the round. Gooden got on the back of Jouban in a body lock before the round ran out of time.
Jouban continued to have the sharper striking on the feet in the third round. A break in the striking came in the third round as Jouban was kneed in the groin. Gooden scored a takedown in the final minute of the fight. Jouban put in a guillotine choke on his back, holding the choke until the round ran out of time. Jouban won via decision after three rounds (30-27, 30-27 & 30-27).
