UFC 255: Kyle Daukaus vs. Dustin Stoltzfus Play-by-Play

Middleweights Kyle Daukaus and Dustin Stoltzfus both looked for their first UFC win on the prelims. Here’s how their matchup went.

Bout 2: Kyle Daukaus (9-1) vs. Dustin Stoltzfus (13-1) (Middleweight)

Daukaus clinched with Stoltzfus in the first minute after landing a left cross. Daukaus tried for a takedown from the clinch, although Stoltzfus resisted the attempt. He was able to score a takedown in the third minute of the round, landing punches to the head. Stoltzfus tried to get a hold of a leg of Daukaus in the final minute of the round. Stoltzfus was able to use the handle on his leg to move into top position on the ground before the round ran out of time.

Daukaus came forward with strikes in the opening minute of the second round. A pause came during his flurry as he accidentally kicked Stoltzfus in the groin. Daukaus put Stoltzfus against the cage in a clinch in the second minute of action. He put together a combination of punches after leaving the clinch. They went back to a clinch moments after, where Daukaus spent a large portion of the time in control. They returned to striking for the final minute of the fight, where they both put together good shots.

Stoltzfus was backed up against the cage for a moment early in the third round after Daukaus landed a combination of punches. Stoltzfus clinched with Daukaus, although Daukaus took control of the clinch shortly after. Daukaus stopped a single leg takedown attempt in the second minute of the round. Stoltzfus went to the ground after being hit with a combo of punches from Daukaus. After losing grip of a leg of Daukaus, Stoltzfus was hit with a series of punches while on his back. Daukaus left the position and forced the referee to stand Stoltzfus up. Daukaus scored a takedown from a clinch in the fourth minute, getting on the back of Stoltzfus on the ground. Back on the feet in the final minute of the round, Stoltzfus covered up while being hit with a series of punches. Daukaus went to the ground while trying for a d’arce choke. Stoltzfus escaped the choke before the round concluded. Daukaus won on scorecards after three rounds (30-27, 30-27 & 30-26).

RESULT: Kyle Daukaus def. Dustin Stoltzfus via Decision, Unanimous
