UFC’s January 23rd pay-per-view could get a bantamweight addition, as the promotion is looking to book Umar Nurmagomedov against Sergey Morozov. Per Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie, the fight has been added to the card.
The location for UFC 257 has not been reported yet, although UFC President has noted the plan is to hold it on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The fight would be the UFC debut of both Nurmagomedov and Morozov.
Nurmagomedov has been booked for UFC cards since April, although various reasons have forced him out of bookings. Most recently, Nurmagomedov was removed from a fight against Morozov at UFC 254 due to illness.
Nurmagomedov is currently undefeated as a pro through 12 fights.
Morozov enters the UFC after a championship run in M-1 Challenge. After three-straight wins in the promotion, Morozov defeated Aleksandr Osetrov in 2019 to claim their 135-pound belt. He defended it once before signing with the UFC.
