A light heavyweight fight between Jiri Prochazka and former title challenger Dominick Reyes has been moved to UFC’s May 1st main event spot. The new date for the fight was reported by Damon Martin of MMA Fighting on Thursday.
The bout joins a card that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.
Prochazka and Reyes were originally set to headline a February 27th UFC card. However, the plans had to change after Reyes suffered an injury.
Now with a new date, the light heavyweight fight with high implications will be able to go on.
Prochazka made a splash in 2020, knocking out Volkan Oezdemir in his UFC debut. The former RIZIN Light Heavyweight Champion is riding an 11-fight win streak that includes nine finish wins within one round.
Reyes will see himself fighting for the first time outside of a championship context since 2019. Reyes has challenged for a belt in his last two fights, losing in both instances.
Reyes competed in February of 2020 against Jon Jones, fighting five rounds before losing a unanimous decision. He was handed another title shot in September, fighting Jan Blachowicz for the then-vacant belt. Reyes was stopped in the second round of that title fight.
Prior to his title fights, Reyes had an undefeated pro record of 12 wins that included six UFC victories.
Here is the updated lineup for UFC’s May 1st card.
