UFC’s March 6th pay-per-view event has lost a fight, as Randy Costa has been pulled from a fight against Trevin Jones.
It is not known currently if Costa will get a new opponent for his UFC 259 booking. The fight was scheduled to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Costa announced his withdrawal from the fight on Twitter, vaguely suggesting that an injury has forced him out of action.
“I rested it and then it came back significantly worse last week leaving me with no other option [but to withdraw],” said Costa, addressing his injury. “I need to get it taken care of before it turns into something major.”
Costa was looking to build off his return win in September which saw him stop Journey Newson within a minute with strikes. The victory was his second since joining the UFC roster in 2019.
Jones was in search of his first official promotional win at UFC 259. While he defeated Timur Valiev in his UFC debut last year, Jones’ win was later overturned due to the Nevada Athletic Commission detecting marijuana in his drug test.
UFC 259 currently has a triple header of championship bouts headlining the card.
