UFC 259’s preliminary card were the sole representatives in the performance awards given out after the pay-per-view event. Along with a “Fight of the Night” award given to Kennedy Nzechukwu and Carlos Ulberg, “Performance of the Night” awards were handed to Uros Medic and Kai Kara-France.
All award winners were given an extra $50,000 on top of their previous negotiated fight purses for their bouts at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
The “Fight of the Night” saw Nzechukwu eventually stop Ulberg in a back-and-forth striking battle. While Nzechukwu found himself in trouble early in the fight, he eventually made a comeback and caught Ulberg with a right hook in the second round.
Kara-France was given an award for his one-round comeback victory against Rogerio Bontorin. Overcoming a rear naked choke early in the round, Kara-France later floored Bontorin with punches that ended the fight.
Medic’s award comes from his UFC debut performance against Aalon Cruz. The undefeated fighter continued his career-long streak of finish wins, pouring on a high volume of shots in the first round until the referee eventually stopped the fight.
