DEEP Jewels Re-Books Strawweight Title Fight, Announces Semi-Final Fights In Atomweight Bracket For May 4th

A previously scheduled DEEP Jewels Strawweight Championship fight between Miki Motono and Seika Izawa has been given a new date, now being placed on DEEP Jewels 33, which will take place on May 4th. The bout is among numerous recently announced matchups for the card, including the continuation of the promotion’s atomweight grand prix.

All of the fights are expected to take place at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Izawa is being given the title shot after winning a non-championship win over Motono last year. She prevailed in a fight between the two back in December, winning via unanimous decision after three rounds.

Prior to the loss, Motono had three first-round victories in DEEP promotions.

DEEP Jewels Atomweight Grand Prix To Continue on May 4th

DEEP Jewels will continue their atomweight tournament on May 4th, with the semi-finals in what started as an eight-woman bracket earlier in the year. 

In the first of two matchups in the bracket, Park Si Woo will fight Saori Oshima.

Oshima’s win in the opening round of the bracket headlined DEEP Jewels 32 in March. Her performance was quick, catching veteran Emi Tomimatsu in the first round with an armlock.

Park had a strong win in her fight, defeating NISSE via unanimous decision.

On the other side of the bracket, Aya Murakami will fight Hikaru Aono for a spot in the finals.

Aono had a dominant performance in March, taking a win against Emi Sato, who was filling in for Otoha Nagao in the bracket.

Murakami was given a bye past the first round of the tournament after her opponent, Sakura, missed weight for the fight and was ruled out of competition in March. Murakami’s sole pro win is a decision over Moeri Suda in 2020.

A reserve bout for the finals will also be held in March between two competitors who lost in the opening rounds. Emi Tomimatsu and NISSE will compete for a spot in the finals if an originally scheduled fighter has to pull out from the bout.
