The matchups for PFL’s second regular season night in the welterweight and light heavyweight division were revealed Wednesday. Rory MacDonald is set to headline his second PFL event, facing fellow UFC alum Gleison Tibau in the main event of a June 17th show.
The 10-fight card is set to happen at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.
MacDonald won his PFL debut in the main event of the first welterweight night, submitting Curtis Millender within a round. Tibau lost earlier on that show to Joao Zeferino.
Both coming off a successful first fight in the season, 2019 champions Emiliano Sordi and Ray Cooper III are also expected to appear on the main card.
Welterweight champ Cooper III will fight Nikolay Aleksakhin, who is returning after his first 2021 appearance ended due to an eye poke.
Sordi has been matched against Dan Spohn, who will attempt to break a three-fight losing streak.
Three names are expected to make their first appearance of the year on the card.
Cory Hendricks will take the place of Nick Roehrick in the light heavyweight division, fighting Marthin Hamlet on the prelims.
Hendricks, a finalist in Season 23 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” is heading into the PFL after having won three of his last five fights. Roehrick is out of the PFL lineup after taking a stoppage loss against Cezar Ferreira last month.
Welterweights Alexey Kunchenko and Magomed Magomedkerimov will both start their 2021 PFL season on the prelims. They were both set to appear on a PFL card in April but pulled from their respective fights on short notice.
