Invicta FC’s June 11th atomweight tournament has seen a slight change, as Marisa Messer-Belenchia will replace Katie Saull as part of their eight-woman bracket. The promotion announced the change on Monday, citing travel restrictions on Saull as the reason behind the change.
Messer-Belenchia will be making her return to MMA after over a year out of the sport. Her last MMA appearance was her Invicta FC debut in late 2019, where she lost to Linda Mihalec. The bout was Messer-Belenchia’s first pro loss after attaining three wins.
Now, Messer-Belenchia is one of eight women who will compete in a one-night tournament for a fight against Invicta FC Atomweight Champion Alesha Zappitella.
Along with Messer-Belenchia, the bracket will include Jessica Delboni, Jillian DeCoursey, Katie Perez, Lindsey VanZant, Linda Mihalec, Paulina Granados and Tabatha Watkins.
The matchups for the opening round of the bracket aren’t known at the moment. They will be unveiled before the event and will be determined by an ongoing fan vote.
