Injury has forced featherweight Choi Doo-ho out of his July 31st UFC bout against Danny Chavez, delaying his return to the cage. He has since been replaced by Kai Kamaka III, per announcements made by both fighters recently.
The new matchup is set to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Choi announced his departure from the “Fight Night” card via social media on Sunday.
“I injured my shoulder in the last sparring session on Friday night,” said Choi via Instagram. “It is not a huge injury, but definitely it isn’t something that [I] can handle in the fight.”
Choi was set to return for the first time since 2019. The 30-year-old has lost his last three fights and was in a potential must-win situation in his late July booking.
Now with a new opponent, Chavez looks to bounce back from his sole UFC loss, which he took against Jared Gordon in February.
Kamaka III will be fighting to break a two-fight skid that he is currently in. That includes a recent split decision loss he faced against TJ Brown two months ago.
