UFC’s July 31st “Fight Night” card has gone down to 13 matchups in total after two bouts departed the lineup recently. The fights left a card that is set to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Kopylov’s Return Against Alvey Off
A middleweight fight between Roman Kopylov and Sam Alvey is off the card due to travel issues on Kopylov’s end. Veteran fighter Alvey announced the cancellation on his TikTok page, noting that a replacement opponent couldn’t be found for him in time for Saturday.
Alvey was fighting to earn his first win since 2018. He was submitted earlier this year, getting stopped by Julian Marquez in April.
Kopylov was looking to make his second appearance in the UFC cage. His promotional debut came in 2019, where Karl Roberson handed him his first pro loss.
Heavyweights Abdurakhimov and Daukaus Out of Lineup
Heavyweights Shamil Abdurakhimov and Chris Daukaus have been removed from the lineup and rescheduled to September 25th, per a report from Damon Martin of MMA Fighting.
Abdurakhimov and Daukaus’ withdrawal from Saturday’s card was first reported by Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.
The cancelled bout continues recent troubles for Abdurakhimov, who has been in numerous matchups that have fallen off lineups in 2020 and 2021.
Abdurakhimov last fought in 2019 where Curtis Blaydes snapped his three-fight winning streak.
The fight gave Daukaus a chance to extend what has been an undefeated run in the UFC for him thus far.
UFC’s July 31st card is still a large lineup of 13 fights in total. It is currently set to be headlined by middleweights Uriah Hall and Sean Strickland.
