Following a successful return to the UFC earlier this year, Matheus Nicolau will meet Tim Elliott at the promotion’s October 9th event. The matchup was confirmed earlier this week in a report by Mike Heck and Guilherme Cruz from MMA Fighting.
The fight joins a show that does not have a confirmed location currently.
Nicolau returned to the UFC earlier this year with a big win, defeating former RIZIN Bantamweight Champion Manel Kape with a split decision.
The fight was Nicolau’s first in the UFC since 2018, and he was coming back to the promotion after two wins on the regional scene.
Nicolau had been sidelined for over a year before his last fight, as two UFC bookings involving him had fallen through in that time period.
Elliott will be looking to build on a recent win streak. The UFC veteran scored his second consecutive UFC victory at UFC 259 earlier this year, fighting to a unanimous decision win over Jordan Espinosa.
UFC’s October 9th card is currently set to be headlined by strawweights Marina Rodriguez and Mackenzie Dern. Here is the updated lineup:
Bout 5: Marina Rodriguez (14-1-2) vs. Mackenzie Dern (11-1) (Strawweight)
