UFC’s August 28th “Fight Night” event has been rapidly losing fights this week due to various reasons. The changes affect a card that is set to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Sara McMann has been forced out of her bantamweight bout against Ketlen Vieira after suffering an injury. McMann put out a statement about her departure from the card.
“I’m hoping like hell it’s a quick healing process but I’ll have to wait until I get the final prognosis to know,” said McMann via Instagram.
Undefeated UFC newcomer Aliaskhab Khizriev also won’t compete on the card, as an undisclosed injury has removed him from his fight against Alessio Di Chirico. Mike Heck and Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting were the first to report this change.
COVID-19 protocol has taken Mario Bautista out of his bantamweight bout against Guido Cannetti, per MMA Island. The fight was set to be Cannetti’s first since early 2020.
Late last night news also broke that flyweight Tracy Cortez has suffered an injury and won’t be facing JJ Aldrich. Nolan King of MMA Junkie was the first to confirm the news.
While some fighters are off their bouts, their opponents could get a new opponent in time. However, as it stands currently, no reports have cited that these opponents have received new fights as of yet.
UFC’s August 28th card now has nine bouts in total, including a featherweight main event and two grand final fights in the ongoing season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
