Trevin Jones will get a new UFC newcomer as an opponent at this weekend’s UFC “Fight Night” card. No longer facing Fury FC Bantamweight Champion Mana Martinez, Jones will now meet CFFC Bantamweight Champion Saidyokub Kakhramonov.
News of the new matchup was first reported by MMA Island. The bout joins a card that is expected to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
It is not known at the moment why Martinez had to withdraw from the fight.
“Things don’t always go as planned in life, but I believe everything happens for a reason,” said Martinez, who put out a statement on his departure from the lineup.
Kakhramonov is joining the UFC roster with a pro record of nine wins and two losses. The PFL alum earned a win in his last showing, stopping Tycen Lynn in March to claim CFFC’s 135-pound belt.
He is currently on a two-fight win streak.
Jones will be looking to build off his recent momentum in the UFC. He scored his first official UFC victory earlier this year with a second-round finish against Mario Bautista.
Jones had previously defeated Timur Valiev in his UFC debut, although that bout was later overturned to a no contest after a drug test detected marijuana in his system.
Jones was originally a fill-in on this card, coming in to replace Jesse Strader. He was taking the booking just weeks after a fight against Ronnie Lawrence fell off a card at the last minute.
UFC’s August 21st card is now set to be 12 fights in total. Middleweights Jared Cannonier and Kelvin Gastelum are the scheduled main event. Here is how the show looks at the moment:
