UFC is currently pursuing a bantamweight main event between Miesha Tate and Kelten Vieira for their October 16th event. News of the potential matchup was first reported by Evelyn Rodrigues of Combate.
The matchup has reportedly been verbally agreed upon, although contracts have not been signed. Should it be confirmed, it would join a UFC card that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.
Tate made her return to action last month, stopping Marion Reneau in the third round with strikes. It was the former UFC Bantamweight Champion’s first MMA appearance since 2016.
A main event win for Tate would put her one step closer to a title fight.
In her next showing, Vieira will be attempting to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss she took to Yana Kunitskaya in February. She was previously booked to fight on August 28th, but was taken out of the lineup after opponent Sara McMann had to withdraw with an injury.
Vieira has won three of her past five bouts in the UFC.
