Jim Miller will set a UFC record when facing newcomer Erick Gonzalez at the promotion’s October 16th event. The fight, which was first reported by Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie, has reportedly been verbally agreed upon by both parties.
The lightweight fight joins a card that is expected to happen at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
The fight is expected to be Miller’s 38th appearance in the UFC. He is currently tied with Donald Cerrone for most fights in the promotion’s history, although his appearance later this month will make him the sole record holder.
Miller was first set to take the record last month, as he was booked to face Nikolas Motta on September 18th. That matchup was scrapped on short notice after Miller tested positive for COVID-19.
Gonzalez is joining the UFC roster after a 19-fight pro run. He was a veteran of Combate Global (formerly known as Combate Americas), fighting for them 12 times from 2016 to 2019.
He is getting the UFC call-up after scoring two wins on the regional scene this year.
