UFC’s January 22nd has gained two matchups recently, including a pairing of undefeated featherweights Movsar Evloev and Ilia Topuria. The new fights are set to happen at UFC 270, which was recently revealed to be set for the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, USA.
Undefeated Featherweights Evloev and Topuria Paired Up
Evloev and Topuria’s matchup will see two of the division’s top undefeated contenders go head-to-head. News of the matchup was first confirmed by RedFuryMMA_official on Instagram.
Evloev has scored five wins since joining the UFC roster in 2019. He picked up a big win in his last showing, defeating fellow rising prospect Hakeem Dawodu via unanimous decision.
Topuria has spent less time in the promotion but has had an impactful stay thus far. He has earned three wins since debuting last year, with two of those victories being a first-round stoppage.
Topuria’s last victory was in July, stopping the returning Ryan Hall late in the first round with strikes.
Della Maddalena To Make UFC Debut Against Alves
UFC newcomer Jack Della Maddalena will get his first shot in the octagon when facing Warlley Alves at welterweight, per Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA.
Della Maddalena earned his UFC contract on an episode of “Dana White’s Contender Series” last month, fighting to a unanimous decision win over Ange Loosa. The victory extended the former Eternal MMA Welterweight Champion’s winning streak to 10 consecutive.
Alves will be looking to return to the win column after suffering a loss in his last outing. The 13-fight UFC vet was stopped by former CFFC Welterweight Champion Jeremiah Wells in his last fight, continuing a six-fight streak of alternating between wins and losses.
