Two new matchups have joined UFC’s December 18th card, filling in for fights that have fallen out of the lineup as of late. The new pairings are expected to take place later this month at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Chiasson To Replace Avila In Bantamweight Fight Against Pennington
Macy Chiasson will step in to face Raquel Pennington in a bantamweight bout, per Mike Heck of MMA Fighting.
Chiasson will replace Julia Avila, who reportedly had to withdraw from the booking recently after suffering a knee injury.
Chiasson scored a win in her last appearance, defeating Marion Reneau via unanimous decision in March. She has been on the sidelines since, as two bookings later in the year for her against Aspen Ladd fell through for various reasons.
Pennington is also on a two-fight winning streak. Her last victory was a decision win over Pannie Kianzat in September.
UFC Newcomer Henry To Fight Barcelos
Victor Henry will make his UFC debut on the card, taking a short-notice bantamweight fight against Raoni Barcelos, per Farah Hannoun and Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
Henry was called upon after the previous opponent for Barcelos, Trevin Jones, withdrew from his booking.
Henry enters the UFC with a successful record of 21 wins and five losses. The former DEEP Impact Bantamweight Champion has appeared twice in notable Japanese MMA promotion RIZIN, winning in each fight. His last appearance was a victory over Albert Morales on an LXF card in October.
Barcelos will be fighting to bounce back from his sole UFC loss. He dropped a majority decision to Timur Valiev in June, marking his first defeat through six appearances with the promotion.
