Heavyweight Martin Buday will get his first shot in the UFC later this year, facing Chris Barnett at the promotion’s April 16th “Fight Night” card. The new pairing was reported by Marcel Dorff of Eurosport on Friday.
The fight joins a slowly growing lineup that doesn’t have a confirmed location yet.
Buday joined the roster last year with a win on the UFC TV show “Dana White’s Contender Series.” He earned a quick victory in that fight, stopping Lorenzo Hood within a round due to strikes.
The fight was Buday’s ninth consecutive victory as a pro.
Barnett picked up his first UFC victory in November, stopping Gian Villante with a wheel kick. This put him back in the win column after losing earlier in the year against fellow veteran Ben Rothwell.
UFC’s April 16th card doesn’t have the main event set for it yet. Here is how the show looks at the moment:
Bout 4: Drakkar Klose (11-2-1) vs. Brandon Jenkins (15-8) (Lightweight)
Bout 3: Miguel Baeza (10-2) vs. Dhiego Lima (15-9) (Welterweight)
Bout 2: Rafa Garcia (13-2) vs. Jesse Ronson (21-10) (Welterweight)
Bout 1: Chris Barnett (22-7) vs. Martin Buday (9-1) (Heavyweight)
