Kay Hansen is expected to go back down to strawweight for her next appearance, facing UFC newcomer Piera Rodriguez at the promotion’s April 9th pay-per-view event.
The fight has joined UFC 273, per a report from Carlos Contreras Legaspi of ESPN Deportes. The event doesn’t have a confirmed location at the moment.
Hansen might be in a must-win position, attempting to avoid a three-fight losing streak in the appearance. She fought just last month, taking on UFC newcomer Jasmine Jasudavicius at UFC 270. Hansen lost this bout via unanimous decision.
Hansen was making the move up to flyweight after spending her two previous UFC bouts at strawweight. Her prior loss took place back in 2020, where Cory McKenna beat her via unanimous decision.
Rodriguez will be making her UFC debut in the fight. She earned a contract with the promotion in October, defeating Valesca Machado on “Dana White’s Contender Series.” Earlier in 2021, Rodriguez became the LFA Strawweight Champion with a stoppage victory over Svetlana Gotsyk.
