Karine Silva To Make UFC Debut Against Poliana Botelho At June 4th Event

Karine Silva will make her UFC debut at the promotion’s June 4th card, facing Poliana Botelho in a flyweight fight. News of this matchup was confirmed by Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting earlier in the week.

The matchup joins a UFC event that doesn’t have a set location currently.

Silva secured a UFC contract on the most recent season of “Dana White’s Contender Series,” submitting Yan Qihui in the second round of a fight via guillotine choke.

That win for Silva extended a winning streak that she had previously developed on the regional scene in Brazil.

The upcoming fight is a potentially critical one for Botelho. She will be fighting to avoid falling into a three-fight losing streak and earning her fourth loss through five UFC appearances.

Botelho’s last defeat came in May 2021, where Luana Carolina beat her via split decision.

Botelho was booked to return last month against Kim Ji-yeon, although that fight didn’t come to fruition.

It was reported earlier this month that Dan Ige and Movsar Evloev will meet at UFC’s June 4th event. That bout is the sole other fight set for the card currently.
