UFC is looking to book a rematch for one of the biggest strawweight fights in recent years.
The promotion is currently in the process of booking a second bout between former UFC Strawweight Champions Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk for their June 11th event. News of the potential fight was reported last week by Marc Raimondi of ESPN.
The fight has been verbally agreed upon by both parties. Should the fight be made official, it will join the UFC 275 pay-per-view event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
Zhang first met Jedrzejczyk in March 2020. Their first meeting resulted in a fight that many considered to be “Fight of the Year.” At the end of that five-round brawl, it was Zhang that won a split decision to retain her UFC Strawweight Championship.
Zhang has since dropped her belt to current champ Rose Namajunas. Her last appearance was a rematch against Namajunas, which she lost via split decision in November 2021.
Jedrzejczyk has yet to compete since her fight against Zhang in early 2020. In this potential booking, the champ will be fighting for her first win since 2019.
Here are the bouts that have been reported for UFC 275 thus far:
Bout 4: Glover Teixeira (33-7) vs. Jiri Prochazka (28-3-1) (UFC Light Heavyweight Championship)
Bout 3: Valentina Shevchenko (22-3) vs. Taila Santos (19-1) (UFC Flyweight Championship)
Bout 2: Robert Whittaker (23-6) vs. Marvin Vettori (18-4-1) (Middleweight)
