UFC is looking to make their return to Austin, Texas, USA later this year.
The promotion is aiming to hit the city for their June 18th event, per a report from Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
Along with the promotion’s recent request for a license for an event on that date, sources of MMA Junkie have also been told that the card is heading to Austin.
Should the date be confirmed, it will mark the first time that UFC holds an event in Austin in many years. Their last appearance there was in February 2018, when they hosted a “Fight Night” card headlined by Donald Cerrone and Yancy Medeiros.
UFC has slowly started hosting events in front of live crowds over the past year. The promotion spent the majority of 2020 and 2021 holding cards inside their UFC APEX studio in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Since April 2021, the promotion has held all of their pay-per-view events in front of live audiences. However, “Fight Night” events have mostly remained inside the promotion’s studio. A few cards have hit the road recently, including cards in London, England and Columbus, Ohio.
