Undefeated flyweight prospect Casey O’Neill has been pulled from her upcoming July 2nd fight against Jessica Eye, per an announcement made Thursday. She will be replaced by Maycee Barber in the UFC 276 lineup, as first reported by Cole Shelton of BJPenn.com.
The new matchup has been plugged into a pay-per-view lineup that is expected to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
O’Neill stated that her withdrawal from the UFC card was due to suffering a torn ACL. The 24-year-old prospect was looking to make her fifth appearance since joining the UFC roster in early 2021.
Now in the lineup, Barber will be fighting to score her third consecutive victory. Her last win was just earlier this month, working toward a unanimous decision win over Montana De La Rosa.
Eye, a UFC veteran, will be competing for the first time in nearly an entire year. A series of canceled bouts have kept her out of action in late 2021 and early 2022.
With a new opponent in place, Eye will be attempting to snap a three-fight losing streak. Her last defeat came against Jennifer Maia at UFC 264 last year.
UFC 264 does not have a main event at the moment. Here are the few fights that have been booked for the card thus far:
Bout 3: Miesha Tate (19-8) vs. Lauren Murphy (15-5) (Flyweight)
Bout 2: Brad Tavares (19-6) vs. Dricus Du Plessis (16-2) (Middleweight)
Bout 1: Jessica Eye (15-10) vs. Maycee Barber (10-2) (Flyweight)
